This is a little song I'm working on. Give it a listen and tell me what you think...
My own thoughts are thus: I like the way the music is turning out (the chord progression and guitar volume swells are highlights for me), but I'm not a huge fan of the lyrics. This may be an odd statement to make as I am also the author of said lyrics. Here's my attempt at an explanation for that apparent paradox: I like reading a lot of highly esteemed authors and literature, as well as listening to a wide range of phenomenal songwriters. When I compare my work to those individuals, my writing is not even close to the quality of the material I personally would choose to listen to. Or perhaps I should say I'm not there yet. I am holding out hope that writing is a skill that I can develop over time and with practice.
Anyway, enough about that. Feel free to share your impressions and feedback with me. As I work on the recording some more, I may try and update the audio that I posted here as well.

There is a definitely a point about emulating the masters. The thing to remember is that they had great masters before them, and the breadth of the music and thought your seeing came with the merging of their life experience with what they learned from those before them. You may not be a musical masterpiece, but you do have a unique perspective on life because you are the only Calvin Elias out there. Take advantage of that!
So far, I think you've got a good thing going. A bit of polish here and there and... :)
